Balinese Painting, (Ubud)

Here we offer Balinese paintings from the great artists who have worked in Ubud, the historic center of Balinese painting and sculpture...I usually stayed at Oka Kartinis' losman,(who is one of the most gracious and kind people I've ever met).

Kelesen came in from the rice padi to meet me at Oka Kartinis' gallery. We spoke until he was summoned back to work. All Balinese help with the rice crop as they are able.

Mujawan was one of the great masters. He depicted Balinese culture in a loving and educational manner. Always adding details of daily life and religious practices to be found by the viewers' lingering eye.
